The Perfect Place to Host a Cocktail Hour
On August 5th, The 1880 Union opened its lobby doors to Bell Street, inviting locals, vendors, and those just passing by inside for delicious bites and refreshing drinks. With constant chatter, flowing martinis and spritzes, and guests gathered throughout the lobby, the evening reminded us of one of our favorite parts of a Union Wedding: Cocktail Hour.

A New Look for the Lobby
Our newly renovated lobby brings together the history of The Union with an elevated vintage Western feel. With plenty of places to sit, sip, and gather, the space was made for moments just like this.
A Moment for the Florals
What made the evening even more special were the gorgeous florals by one of our lovely vendors, Jessica Flores of J. Flores Design. Jessica created an array of arrangements that embodied summer in every way, incorporating local produce like tomatoes and basil alongside sunflowers stripped down of their petals. The result was something visually unexpected and a perfect avant-garde take on summer floral instalations. The designs were not only stunning, but made the lobby smell like a valley garden.
Bites and Sips
Chef Noban created a menu of French-inspired bites for the evening, paired with a lineup of refreshing spritzes and martinis from the bar. Guests could grab a drink, enjoy a bite, and settle into the cozy lobby for the evening.
The People Who Make the Place
While the ambiance, food, and florals made for a beautiful evening, what really made the afternoon special was the people. The lobby and garden filled up with friends, neighbors, and some of the vendors we are lucky enough to work alongside every wedding season.
Seeing some of our favorites: Club Amore, Wunderland, Over the Moon Events, By the Jaramillos, Amigo Event Rentals, Demaray Events, An Occasion Events, and SY Elite Event Rentals to name a few all in one room reminded us why we love what we do. While they are often behind the scenes, Bella Hall of Bella Capri Photo beautifully captured each of them getting to be guests.
Cocktail Hour, The Union Way
Cocktail hour is one of our favorite parts of a Union wedding. It’s that little pocket of time when drinks are flowing, hors d’oeuvres are being passed, and everyone gets to settle in and enjoy being together before the evening really gets going.
You’ll work with Chef Noban to create a custom selection of tray-passed hors d’oeuvres for your guests, while our bar team helps you dream up two signature cocktails that feel like you. From there, we take care of the rest.
The lobby gives everyone plenty of room to grab a drink, sit down, and mingle before heading into the rest of the night.
There’s something special about having all of your favorite people together in one place. Cocktail hour is just one small part of a Union wedding, but it’s one we love getting to share with you.
If you can picture your people here, we’d love to hear from you.
