An Ivy Guide
What our beautiful European ivy looks like every month of year.
January and February
During January and February, The Union’s ivy remains completely bare, leaving the historic brick fully exposed. Since there is little to no ivy growth during these months, we’ve chosen to begin our photo guide when the first greenery starts to appear in March.
March
During March, the walls remain mostly sparse, with hints of greenery along the front of the building. Toward the end of the month, the ivy begins peeking through, marking the start of its spring growth.
April
The walls and front of The Union begin to fill in more during April as the ivy comes back to life. Fresh green leaves start spreading across the building, bringing more color and fullness as the month goes on.
May
By May, the ivy has filled in across The Union, creating a lush green backdrop throughout the property. The walls become noticeably fuller, with vibrant greenery surrounding the gazebo and stretching across the exterior of the building.
June
June brings deep green ivy across The Union, creating a classic summer look throughout the property. With the season in full swing, the greenery makes a beautiful backdrop for ceremonies and photos.
July
In July, the ivy remains full and vibrant, wrapping The Union in rich summer greenery. Its dense coverage creates a beautiful contrast against the brick, wood, and white details throughout the property.
August
August marks peak summer at The Union, with the ivy remaining full, lush, and deep green. During one of the warmest months of the year, the property is surrounded by some of its richest greenery of the season.
September
September keeps much of the lush greenery of summer, while the first subtle hints of fall begin to appear. The ivy remains full, with touches of warmer color starting to peek through as the season begins to change.
October
October is when the ivy’s fall colors really begin to take over. Deep greens mix with shades of red and orange, creating a warm, colorful backdrop while the ivy still remains full across much of The Union.
November
November brings a beautiful mix of late fall color, with the ivy shifting between deep green and rich shades of red. While some areas begin to thin, much of The Union remains covered as the ivy slowly transitions toward winter.
December
By December, much of the ivy has begun to thin, revealing more of The Union’s brick beneath. Patches of green, red, and golden leaves still remain, bringing the last touches of fall color as the property transitions into winter.
